About Katie
Hi! I’m Katie, adventurer, creative spirit and the founder of Rainbowtarian. I’m passionate about making the most of this one wild, precious, magical thing we call life and helping other people do the same. I say yes to almost everything and love getting my teeth into anything creative, from interior design to food styling and writing children’s books. When my mum hat is off, you’ll find me on a bike, soaking up the buzz with friends and generally making any excuse to be outdoors!
Rainbowtarian started a few years ago when life gave us lemons.
In what should have been a happy time not long after our second daughter was born, a whole volley of curveballs seemed to have our name on them. My other half’s stage-four cancer diagnosis collided with the death of a close family member, my own (second) close shave following an operation that went wrong and a big move - and that was just the start! It was a pretty wild time and I could have fallen into a dark hole. But I had two little girls and a sick husband depending on me.
So, I mustered my strength and got on with living life, amongst other things by….
…turning the house we’d recently moved to into a family home (Purpose) and doubling down on keeping fit (Health). We couldn’t stray far from a hospital but went adventuring to festivals at every opportunity (Fun, Adventure) and I immersed myself in food styling and writing whenever I could (Creativity). All sorts of other things too, all of which are now at the heart of Rainbowtarian.
It wasn’t that I didn’t do these things before, I just did them a lot more mindfully.
And we didn’t just survive, we thrived. Despite everything, including not knowing whether my other half would make it (thankfully, ever-gratefully, he did), we were happy and flourished and have gorgeous, happy memories from that period.
Even though all of that is behind us, Rainbowtarian is still my blueprint for wellbeing. Of course, life has its ups and downs but I live each day in full color and feel healthy, happy, strong and joyful on the inside. I also feel empowered to handle things when the chips are down and let’s face it, there will always be lemons and bumps in the road.
In fact, the story I’ve just told you is the tip of the iceberg; I’ve had a lot of big experiences (more on that another time because this is about you and Rainbowtarian is a celebration of life, not a sob story!), and have learned so much about wellbeing and happiness along the way. I’ve packaged it all into Rainbowtarian for you and am excited to share it with you!
Drawing on the wisdoms of psychology, philosophy and experts, my mission is to inspire you to live your healthiest, happiest, most colorful life and bloom in all your unique beauty and power.
Starting with my debut offering and book, The Rainbowtarian Way, and on Instagram (follow me here!), I’ll do exactly that through enlightening insights, colorful ideas, practical tools and exciting products and events.
The book is just the start, there is much more to come!
Welcome to Rainbowtarian :)
